[Women's Outdoor Track and Field] Track & Field: Spivey sets high jump record

Comments

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Freshman Trisha Spivey broke the high jump record for Indiana University East at the Rose-Hulman Twilight meet in Terre Haute, Ind. April 22.

Spivey (Liberty, Ind./Union County High School) jumped 1.58 meters to beat the previously set record of 1.57 meters. Former IU East track and field member Vanessa Legg had set the record at the Little State Invitational on March 27, 2010.

"This meet reminded me of just a couple years ago when Vanessa Legg and Kait Ervin were the only two girls on the team," said IU East head coach Dave Sanders. "The week before conference we always take the weekend off to prepare. This year I had two lady Wolfpack members who have been fighting injuries and inconsistency throught the year that had to jump. Both girls jumped well and we got exactly what we wanted out of today - Autumn very close to a PR and Trisha with a school record."

Spivey and freshman teammmate Autumn Kahn (Etna Green, Ind./Triton High School) were the only IU East members to compete in the competition.

The Red Wolves' next meet is April 30 when they compete in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships at the Rio Grande University in Rio Grande, Ohio.
